Surname Notes On This Page

In household 44, the enumerator wrote the surname as 'Steele', a suggested alternative surname is 'Steep'. The person suggesting the alternative surname provided this comment: 'The "p" is partially overwritten by "M" on next line; see 1881 census for Renfrew South; in the 1911 census, the family relocated to Caldwell, Nipissing district; their name was recorded as STEEPE.'.
