This is the only family I could find in the census with this name. I believe he must have been an older son.
Headstone states: HERE LIES JOS DUSSIAUME WHO LIVED IN A SHACK WHICH HE CALLED HIS HOME. HE WAS A HUMBLE METIS BACHELOR WHO NEVER HURT A SOUL. HIS CHURCH HAD NO WALLS AND HIS DEATH NO RECORD. JUNE 1887 - MARCH 1950
