CARL CHRISTOPHER

AKERFELDT

1906 ? 2009

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our Papa, Carl Akerfeldt. We are truly blessed for his long and full life and for the many happy memories that we share and treasure.

Who could have foreseen that a curly haired baby boy born in Enfield, England in 1906 of a Swedish father and English mother would come with his parents to Toronto in 1911 and experience a century of change that most of us have only read about.

Papa married Nana (Mary Houston) in 1935 and together they ''pioneered'' in Scarborough. Nana left us in 2006.

His many hobbies piqued everyone's interest. He was a wonderful artisan with exquisite woodworking skills. His reproductions of early Canadian furniture were on public display for many years in Toronto. He left us a treasure of miniatures of all sorts, from period cars and wagons, to furniture, little rooms and doll houses. He loved to quote the poetry of Stevenson, Service and many others to the delight of young and old.

Healthy until a week ago, Papa was mobile and kept up with world events and enjoyed a good discussion on current topics of all kinds.

He will be fondly remembered always by sons Bob (Bev), Steve (Mimi), grandchildren Susan (Todd), Karen (Kelly), Jill, Craig, Alexis and great-grandchildren Tristan, Kalysta, Nicholas, Kaine, Julia and Kole.

The family is having a private memorial ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations to a favourite charity would be preferred.
