Title: Rev. John H. Trites Passed Away at Moncton Hospital

A very promising ministerial career was brought to an abrupt and sad termination when the Rev. John H. Trites, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Caribou, Maine, USA, died in the presence of his nearest relatives at the Moncton City Hospital Sunday afternoon, 3rd inst., at 5:20 o'clock.

The Reverend gentleman only arrived in this city from Caribou, Me., on the Monday prioir to his death to spend part of his vacation with his relatives in this city, and was staying at his mother's residence on High St. During the first part of last week he did not complain of feeling seriously unwell, but on Wednesday last was confined to his room with a severe headache; later in the day medical aid was called to attend him, and as he did not show signs of improvement during the next two days it was decided to remove him to the city hospital to which place he was eventually taken on Saturday and his wife who was at Caribou, Maine, notified by telegram of his condition. Upon receipt of the message she immediately left for Moncton arriving here on the early morning train Sunday and remained with her husband until the end.

Rev. John H. Trites, who was a son of the late Stewart Trites, was a Canadian by birth. He was born at Lutes Mountain, NB in the year 1881, having reached the age of 41 when his death occurred. He was always of a quiet and affectionate disposition, energetically active in his church work, studious in nature, conscientiously fair and just in all his dealings with mankind, and loved by all who knew him. As a lad he always displayed a desire to enter the ministry and by his individual energetic ambition worked his way through college, educating himself in his spare hours, finally graduating for position in the ministry he has so successfully filled in recent years.

Those of the family left behind to mourn their loss are his wife, formerly Miss Ada Jeffery, of Monmouth, Maine; his daughter Ruth; his mother, who resides at 18 High street; his brothers, Oscar, Moody and Melton, all of Moncton and Weyman and Warren of Lutes Mountain, also two sisters, Mrs. Wm. McManus of Rockland, Mass., who was visiting here with her daughter Marguerite, when he died and Mrs. G.A. Stone, of Wesley St., Moncton.

Many friends will join with The Times in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon. A public service will be held in the First Baptist Church at 2 pm. Burial will take place at Elmwood cemetery.
